Top Receivers Wanting Out?

What a week it’s been leading up to The 2022 NFL Draft. At the beginning of this week, AJ Brown, Deebo Samuel, and Terry McLaurin all decided to hold out of their team’s off-season workouts because they wanted new contracts with the wide receiver market at an all-time high. Who could blame them for wanting more money when it would be easy for any of them to get hurt and ruin their big contract opportunity this upcoming season.

Possibly Brown or Samuel?

AJ Brown plays for the Tennessee Titans, who play in the AFC South along with the Colts, so the possibility of getting a trade with them for Brown is essentially 0%. Although I would love to have him on this team and pair him with Pittman Jr, that is a trade that I am 99.9% sure won’t happen.

Now Deebo Samuel, on the other hand, could be in play as the Colts opened up as favorites to trade for Deebo, and there have been some rumors the Colts made a trade offer already. Samuel will cost, in my opinion, the most out of the three receivers holding out. I don’t personally see Chris Ballard paying what Samuel wants. But again, I personally would love to get Samuel and pair him with Pittman Jr.

Terry McLaurin to the Colts?

Since coming into the league in 2019, he’s had 3,090 yards and 16 touchdowns and only 1 season, his rookie year, without 1,000 yards in a season. McLaurin has been impactful since day 1 in Washington, and now he wants a new contract. Terry is from Indianapolis and grew up a big Colts fan. The other day he was back in Indy and met up with Colts legend Marvin Harrison. I have no doubt he would love to be a Colt, but getting him here wouldn’t be cheap. And like I said with Samuel, I’m not sure if Ballard would pay for him. McLaurin is a more affordable and arguably better option and, out of the three players mentioned, has the best possibility to come to Indianapolis. The Colts have a less than desirable wide receiver room right now, and McLaurin would make the Colts a clear Super Bowl contender and all the other players they have brought in this off-season. Only time will tell where these players will end up, but don’t be surprised to hear the Colts as teams with interest.
