We put a bow on the analysis of Week 11 where the Colts lost to the Buffalo Bills at home by the final of 30-20. The score was not reminiscent of how badly this team lost the game. While the defense kept Buffalo at bay, it was (again) the offense that stumbled. Turnovers plagued any opportunity for them to get a much-needed victory, as their losing streak now reaches 3 games. This was Buffalo’s first win in Indianapolis since the 1998 season.
Jonathan Taylor Had A Decent Day
A normal day at the office for Taylor on Sunday. He finished with 21 carries for 114 yards, with one big run of 58 yards and multiple other chunk gains on the ground. Taylor did not get in the end zone, but this offense really could not get anything going outside of his rushing production. The offensive line looked good in run blocking, and they were able to exploit the weakness of the Bills team which was the run defense. The only other player that saw a carry from the backfield was Ashton Dulin. While concerning, it was evident that Taylor is the only player that has the trust of this coaching staff.
Horrible Offensive Performance
Overall, another really poor performance again on this side of the ball. There were some bright spots with Jonathan Taylor and Adonai Mitchell had a career game in the absence of Micheal Pittman Jr. The offense did compile 361 total yards, and 19 first downs while keeping the penalties to a minimum. They did see some weakness on third down, where the Colts were 4/11 and, of course, Joe Flacco had 3 interceptions and one lost fumble.
The first throw of the game was a pick-six interception and completely deflated any momentum they had from the opening three and out they got to start the game. Flacco was unable to keep any type of consistency in this offense for back-to-back showings.
Kept Josh Allen At Bay
If you had told us coming into the game that Josh Allen would throw two interceptions and zero touchdowns, we all would think that we either won the game or it was closer than this game was. The score only showed a 10-point loss but with that last TD drive you could tell that Buffalo was just trying not to hurt themselves with a Kansas City showdown looming this week.
Overall, the defense played very well. I think some of the issues were from the players just being gassed from being on the field from all the turnovers that the offense committed. This defense never let this game get away from them completely. Unfortunately, the offense could not reciprocate the favor.
