Game Preview

This Super Bowl XLVI rematch features two teams who are both fresh off heartbreaking losses in Week 7. A flurry of questionable calls helped fuel an Indianapolis collapse on the final drive whereas the Saints’ win quite literally went through the hands of TE Foster Moreau. The Saints have yet to lose against the Colts since their lone Super Bowl win in 2010, outscoring Indianapolis 123-35.

Colts QB Gardner Minshew is coming off a 2-game stretch where he has committed eight turnovers, four in each game, respectively. The biggest driving factor for the Colts offense is whether or not we will see Minshew mania or Minshew mistakes. The Colts desperately need Minshew to return to the efficient version of himself if they want a chance against another top 5 defensive unit.

The offensive line will need to have a solid performance after Minshew was pressured on over 40% of his dropbacks against the Browns. Although the Saints boast a top-tier defense, they are 25th in the league in sacks per game but conversely are 12th in overall pressure rate which is more indicative of overall presence on a QB.

It might be beneficial for the Colts offense to take a page out of the Jaguars’ book from a week ago. Trevor Lawrence and company exhausted the quick game in their Week 7 matchup. The Saints ended the game with no sacks or QB hits on 34 dropbacks, thus proving the quick game is the achilles heel of this New Orleans defense.
