Antwaun Woods was waived by the Dallas Cowboys last week. Adam Schefter of ESPN has confirmed Woods has agreed to a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts brought Woods in for a visit, and I guess you could say that visit went very well. https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/1392207416335405059?s=21

Unfortunately for Woods, the NFL is a business, and despite being a starter for years, no job is truly safe in the NFL. In 40 games for the Dallas Cowboys, Woods had 83 tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits. However, a new defensive coordinator brought a scheme that left Woods out. After drafting multiple guys up front, the Cowboys made Woods a cap causality. Lucky for Chris Ballard to pounce on the move and bring in more depth to his defensive line. Woods has been a starter in Dallas for three seasons now finds himself in a new role with the Colts. Woods will be much-needed depth to an already strong group featuring Deforest Buckner and Grover Stewart. This move should come as no surprise as General Manager Chris Ballard has made it clear he loves a strong front on both sides of the ball.

This signing is an excellent move for the Colts. This move comes post-draft, meaning it won’t conflict with compensatory draft picks. While I won’t guarantee Woods makes the final roster, he will add competition to a loaded front. I expect the camp battle between Brown, Windsor, Stallworth, Cline, and Williams to be a fun one to watch with the addition of Woods. The Colts saw something they liked in Woods. Maybe they like him more than the players named above; time will tell. The Colts have been active in the past two days as the Woods signing comes after the blockbuster Eric Fisher addition. Ballard shows us as fans the Colts are ready to win, and they’re ready to win now.
